Lee Hsing, a veteran director from Taiwan,has directed 52 films over a span of 30 years, of which 7 won Best Feature Film awards and 3, namely, Beautiful Duckling (1964), Execution in Autumn (1972) and He Never Gives Up (1978) won Best Director awards at Golden Horse Film Festival. He has been a prime mover in setting different cinematic genres in Taiwan, from Taiwanese-language films, healthy realism films, Chiung Yao romance adaptations to nativist films. He has also been instrumental in promoting cross-straits interactions in filmmaking and Golden Horse Film Festival. He has been dubbed as a key enabler in the course of Taiwan filmmaking development history.
